DR. KWADWO ODEI ANTWI-AGYEI NATIONAL EPI PROGRAMME MANAGER
Nana or K.O. as he is popularly called is a leader of a winning team. He has worked as a Medical Officer, District Director of Health Services for Dormaa District, and Senior Medical Officer in-Charge of Public Health all in the Brong-Ahafo Region of Ghana. He obtained his basic medical degree at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and proceeded to the University of Leeds in the UK for his Master’s degree in Public Health. He is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Being the Programme Manager, he sees to the day-to-day running of the programme. His rhetorical abilities coupled with his great sense of humour makes him liked by all. His analytical skills and contribution to issues are unmatched. His unique combination of patience, adaptability, and an uncanny knowledge of spelling and grammar has proven to be the ideal mix.
Dr. Antwi-Agyei is open-minded, yet, has firmly established beliefs and is an enthusiastic leader. With his good listening skills and a direct manner of communication, you certainly enjoy a good argument. As a cautious planner, he carefully researches all avenues before reaching any conclusion and once he has made a decision, follows it and reviews to make sure he is on course. He abhors laziness. He is keen on working with other programmes to reduce childhood mortality.
Under his able leadership Ghana’s documentation for polio-free certification was accepted by the Africa Regional Coordinating Committee (RCC). He has played a pivotal role in strengthening measles control in the country. Over the past six (6) years under his administration no child has died of measles. It therefore came as no surprise when the Ghana Health Service received the President’s Special Award on accelerated measles control in the country.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Plan for EPI activities at the national level
• Develop EPI related policies and strategies
• Ensure implementation of EPI interventions
• Facilitate the dissemination of EPI policies and strategies
• Develop capacity at all levels of the Service to manage EPI
• Coordinate all EPI activities inter-sectorally and with health partners
• Estimate and manage logistics and supplies for the programme
• Undertake routine monitoring, supervision and evaluation of control interventions
• Manage human resource needs for the programme
• Collate and submit routine, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of the programme to relevant stakeholders

MR. JOHN FREDERICK DADZIE
DEPUTY EPI PROGRAMME MANAGER
He is affectionately known and called by colleagues and compatriots as Ebow Dadzie. Ebow is very affable, team player, motivator, and a unique leader. He is an encouragement in times of despair. Though he is physically short he stands when all are sitting, stands out when everybody stands and outstanding when everyone else stands out.
He knows how to seize the moment and makes the best out of every situation, hence when most Pharmacist were glued to their dispensary chairs he decided to pursue a master’s programme in Public Health; a qualification which earned him a position as the first Pharmacist to be appointed a District Director of Health Services (DDHS) in the Ghana Health Service. Prior to his appointment as DDHS, he worked as a Pharmacist at La Polyclinic (now La General Hospital) and as a Senior Pharmacist at Ussher Polyclinic and Achmota Hospital.
Mr. Dadzie has additional qualification in Logistics and Transport from Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). He joined the EPI programme in November, 2009 and hopes to apply his knowledge in the fields of Drug management, Public Health and logistics to make significant contribution to the programme. As a Deputy Programme Manager he hopes to provide support to the Programme Manager to manage the affairs of the programme. Ebow Dadzie is a lover of nature and environment and a strong advocate for the beautification and modernization of environment. He believes that he can do all things through Christ who strengthens him.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the PM in the Planning of EPI activities at the national level
• Contribute to the Development of EPI related policies and strategies
• Support the PM to ensure implementation of EPI interventions
• Assist the PM to disseminate EPI policies and strategies
• Help PM to Develop capacity at all levels of the Service to manage EPI
• Coordinate all EPI activities internally and report to the PM
• Coordinate the process of estimating and managing logistics and supplies for the programme
• Support the PM to plan and undertake routine monitoring, supervision and evaluation of control interventions
• Support the Collation and submission of routine, monthly, quarterly and annual reports of the programme to relevant stakeholders
• To act in the absence of the PM
• Undertake any other activity that me be assigned by the PM

MR. FRANCIS G. ABOTSI
NATIONAL EPI LOGISTICIAN
Mr. Francis Abotsi joined Ghana Health Service in 1987 as a Disease Control Officer after three years training at Rural Health Training School, Kintampo. He worked with Tema Polyclinic and Ningo Health Centre as Disease Control Officer and later became the Metro Disease Control Officer of Accra Metropolitan. He later worked with Greater Accra Regional Health Promotion Unit and finally landed at the Expanded Programme on Immunization in 2000 as the National Logistician. He holds a certificate in Disease Control from the Rural Health Training School and a diploma in Health Science Education from the University of Cape Coast.
If you ask Francis what he likes most about being a technical officer of the programme, he may not be able to give you just one answer. "I love meeting new people, developing new relationships and travelling all over the country!" He takes inspiration from the rapid decline of measles cases and more importantly, whooping cough which left its victims grasping for air between coughs.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Forecasting of vaccine & logistics requirement for the Nation.
• Review yearly forecast and Shipment plan for UNICEF.
• Follow up at Central Medical Stores/ UNICEF to ensure that the required shipment and quantities expected have been delivered.
• Estimate annual EPI stationery requirement to Stores and Supply Division
• Lease with National Cold Chain Manager to estimate quarterly vaccines & logistic requirement to the regions
• Prepare and send logistic distribution list for routine and SIAs to region.
• Submit monthly logistic return to AFRO through WHO country office.
• Select types and quantities of needed cold chain equipment required based funds available.
• Update cold chain inventory twice a year.
• Lease with BEU to estimate required cold chain parts and submit to UNICEF
• Any other Job assigned by EPI Manager

MR. PAUL ADJEI BEDIAKO
COLD CHAIN MANAGER
Paul is the manager of the EPI National Cold Room. He has recieved training from the Rural Health Training School at Kintampo as a disease control officer. He also holds a Certificate of Proficiency in Health Education and Promotion from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. Before joining the national office in 2005, Paul was the District Disease Control Officer of Akwapim North District Health Directorate.
As the National Cold Chain Manager, he occupies the heart of the National Immunization Programme. Paul is almost always the first to come and the last to leave the office. However, he is not easy to locate due to his tight schedules. He is an eexcellent communicator with the gravitas and interpersonal skills to interact at a senior level. He responds quickly to changing situations; and work well under pressure while maintaining individual and team effectiveness.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Inspect, receive and transport vaccines from the airport to the national cold room
• Distribute vaccines to the regions on quarterly basis and during campaigns
• Monitor and record vaccine temperature twice daily including weekends and public holidays
• Monitor vaccine issued and used at the regional level
• Keep cold room clean and tidy
• Assist in vaccine forecasting for the year
• Take vaccine stock quarterly and submit report to PM

MS. PAMELA QUAYE
EPI DATA MANAGER
Pamela holds a Diploma in Community Health from the Kintampo Rural Health Training School. Her first appointment as a Disease Control Officer was at the Nkwanta District Health Administration where she worked mainly as the Surveillance and EPI Officer. She joined the National Immunization Programme in 2005.
Pamela is such a cheerful person. Her extremely affable face and that endearing smile is the first thing that catches your attention. Working in the Data Management Section in the national office of the immunization programme, Pamela spends her time perfecting and purifying the national immunization database. The sheer enjoyment of what she does go beyond the smile on her face. Her human relations coupled with her open-mindedness make her a unique team player. Her flair in manipulating data and her conversance with statistical softwares give her an added value.
Main duties and responsibilities:
• Collation, Analysis ,and Reporting on data received from regions every month
• Submit a brief report to the EPI manager by 7th of every month on the detail status of submission of regional reports
• Submit feedback on performance of districts through to the EPI Programme Manager to the regions every month
• Submit monthly report to WHO country office, through the EPI Programme Manager
• Plotting of immunization monitory chart
• Any other job assigned by the Programme Manager

MARY AIKINS
PRIVATE SECRETARY
Mary is cheerful, patient and ever ready to respond to anyone who needs her assistance on the Programme. Her ability to work with variety of people and her willingness to contribute to problem identification and solution makes her a good team player. She is always motivated to learn new skills. Her ambition is to excell to the highest level in her area of study.
She holds a Bachelor’s Degree (Accounting and Information Systems option) from Regent University College of Science and Technology. She also has a Certificate of Management and Administration (CAM) and a Post-Graduate Certificate (CPA) from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). She is also a trained secretary and holds a Private Secretary’s Certificate from the F’eden School of Secretaries.
She worked as a secretary to the Deputy Minister of Environment, Science and Technology and also served as a confidential secretary to the Deputy Minister of Health.

• Assist in the delivery of financial and business process

• Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against budget
• Planning of workshop and conferences

FRED OSEI-SARPONG
SUPPORT STAFF - RESEARCH
Fred started working with the Expanded Programme on Immunization after he graduated from the University of Ghana with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology and have continued to learn and be challenged on a daily basis; something a young professional needs to become successful. He stayed with the EPI programme because of the programme’s proven commitment to delivering superior services and care to mothers and children of Ghana. He is an energetic performer with an upbeat, positive attitude and an enthusiastic learner eager to meet challenges. Fred’s versatility makes him well-suited to work with the national Immunization Programme.
Variety is the watchword for Fred. He assists in surveys and other analytical methods. As the Research Assistants, he collects, analyzes, interprets and compiles data, maintain records and prepare reports. He is also often responsible for doing clerical work, support tasks and other administrative functions. Fred teaches computer basics for people who are new to computers. In his own words ‘’my responsibilities allow a lot of room for creativity and innovation, so I am always learning something new. It’s never dull!’’

MS. DIANA BAIDOO
PROGRAMME OFFICER
Working with the National Expanded Programme on Immunization is exciting and challenging. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of Ghana and a Diploma in Information Management System (IMS) from APTECH. It interests her to be part of the National team and especially working under the supervision of the Programme Manager who always brings out the best in her. Diana is happy to part of a bigger team working ardently to improve the lives of thousands of women and children in Ghana. She aspires to be a Child Health Specialist. Her mantra is: Think BIG, start SMALL, act NOW!
Main duties and responsibilities:

Orientation of final year medical students on EPI
Coordinate EPI committee meetings
Coordinates issues on Adverse Event following Immunization
Supportive supervision and monitoring of National Immunizations at the Regional and District levels at the Expanded Programme on Immunization / Disease control Department

LILIAN AMPONSAH
SECRETARY
Ask Lilian what the programme is working on and she will take a deep breath and admit- "There is never a dull moment!" Lilian knows this because, as the secretary, she is at the center of all activity. She provides administrative support to the Programme Manager and also supports daily operations at the National EPI Office. She has worked as a secretary at various departments at the Ministry of Health. She keeps staff informed on how to use office equipment such as computers, fax machines, photocopiers, printers, scanners and phone systems, and report about non-functioning equipment.
Lilian handles stress with ease, she has a good organizing skills and a pleasing personality.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Receipt and Dispatch of mails
• Receive and answer to telephone calls
• Typing of letters and reports
• Filing and Retrieving of document
• Receive record and distribute in-coming and internal mails of all kinds.
• Attached reference papers and pass correspondence to action officers
